Special Education Services at Jefferson
At Ella Baker Global Studies and Humanities Magnet school we offer a continuum of special education services across Federal Settings I, II and III. Student programming is a collaborative effort between special educators, general education teachers, special education assistants, and related service providers.
We strive to provide an inclusive and academically rigorous educational program for all students, while meeting a variety of learning needs. Instruction is developed based on student strengths from an array of services provided both in general education and special education settings. As deemed appropriate by an IEP team, a student's program is adapted by content, instructional method or instructional setting to best meet the needs of the individual learner.
Our Federal Setting III programming provides instruction and resources for students identified as having a Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). When making educational decisions, Jefferson staff focus on a strengths-based approach that encourages and builds student voice through educational programming and the IEP process. Family involvement is at the heart of all educational decisions.
