In MPS, we make sure your child is making progress in their learning. Please click here to view our school’s 2023-2024 Assessment Academic Calendar. If you have questions about specific assessments, please contact your student's teacher or call our front office (612-668-2720).
In addition to academics, we also administer assessments related to Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
- Classroom Dynamics (Grades 2-8) – Each student in grades 2-8 takes a short survey that assesses student connections in the classroom. The information helps teachers understand social relationships in their classroom from students' perspective. Teachers and support staff can then provide additional support as needed o create equity and belonging for all students. Students take this survey twice per year. Learn more here.
- School Climate & Culture Survey (Grades 2-8) – Each student in grades 2-8 takes a survey in January asking about their classrooms and the overall school’s climate and culture. This helps us identify areas where we need to improve as educators and/or a school. Students take this survey once per year.
Some families choose to opt out of statewide testing (MCAs/MTAS). The statewide assessments (MCAs/MTAS) are how our state measures that curriculum and daily instruction in our schools are being aligned to the academics standards, ensuring all students are being provided an equitable education. Statewide assessment results are just one tool to monitor that we are providing our students with the education that will ensure a strong workforce and knowledgeable citizens. If you choose to opt out of testing, please complete the following form and return to the front office. Please call our front office (612-668-2720) if you have more questions about testing and/or opting out of testing.
